EditMask edit style – PB Docs 125

EditMask edit style

Description

Specify properties for the column’s edit style or
define a new style in the Database painter.

Options

Style Name

In the Database painter, enter a new name for the style. In
the DataWindow painter, select a style from the drop-down list or
leave blank. If there is an existing edit style that is similar
to the style you want, select it and then modify it. The changes
do not affect the edit style defined in the Database painter.

Style Type

Select a different style type from the drop-down list.

Mask

Define the mask. Click the special characters in the pop-up
menu to use them in the mask. To display the pop-up menu, click
the button to the right of the Mask box.

Accelerator

An accelerator key for a column allows you to select a column (change
focus) with a keystroke rather than with the mouse. You change focus by
pressing the accelerator key in combination with the ALT key. To
assign an accelerator key, enter the letter you want to use in the
Accelerator box. To indicate the accelerator key in the text associated
with the column (usually a label or text object), enter an ampersand
(&) before the letter you assigned as the accelerator key.

AutoSkip

Check if you want the EditMask to skip to the next field when
the maximum number of characters have been entered.

Show Focus Rectangle

Check to display a dotted rectangle (the focus rectangle)
around the current row of the column when the column has focus.

Type

Shows the datatype of the column (readonly).

Read Only

Check to make the database column readonly.

Required

Check to make the column required.

Code Table

Check to display the code table. If a code table has been
defined for the column, the display values and data values display.
Otherwise, enter the text to be displayed in the control in the
Display Value column and the values you want to store when the control
is selected in the Data Value column. For example, if display value
is State and the corresponding data value might be MA, Massachusetts
is the text in the column and MA is the stored value.

Drop-down Calendar

Enabled for date and time columns when the Spin Control box
is not selected. Check to display a drop-down calendar in the column
when it has focus. If you select this box, you can specify display properties
of the calendar on the Calendar tab page in the Database painter
or the Other tab page in the DataWindow painter.

Spin Control

Check if you want to allow the user to scroll through a list
of possible values for the column. After you click this box, the
spin options display.

Spin Increment, Min, Max

Specify the amount you want to increment the values of the
spin control and minimum and maximum values. If the Code Table box
is not checked, the spin increment has no effect.

Use Ellipsiss

Check to display an ellipsis (three dots) when a column with the
EditMask edit style contains character data that is too long for
the display column in the DataWindow. The ellipsis does not display
when the column has focus.
