Discontinued/Obsolete Features

While new features are added in PowerBuilder, some of the existing
features might no longer be needed or recommended for use.

The following features are considered as obsolete/discontinued
features, starting from Version 2022
R2
:

  • (Obsolete) DDE functions and
    events

  • (Obsolete) LoadWithDotNetFramework and
    LoadWithDotNetCore functions. You can replace these functions with
    LoadWithDotNet
    function.

  • (Discontinued) Windows 8.1 & Windows
    Server 2012 R2 operating system

  • (Discontinued) The DirectConnect
    database connection. You can switch to use the ODBC or native
    database connection.

Discontinued features are
features that have been completely removed from the product.

Obsolete features are still
available to use, but are no longer eligible for technical support and
will no longer be enhanced.
